Smile New (used) 94 E320

Well, finally I got it. Traded my trusted reliable 86 300E (180K) for a pristine 67K mile 94 E320. Imp. Red with Parchment int.

Of course now the questions.

1) I understand that there is a CD available for the Shop manuals. I have the all the manuals for the 86, some do not apply.
Question is, what has more info the CD or the manuals? I am needing the engine and the electrical. Does the CD have ALL of the models (W124) and ALL of the books in it? I guess, which is better.

2) Oil.... I was using 20W-50 synt. blend in hot Texas on my 86. What is recommended for the 104 engine?

3) Here is the big one, Somebody replaced the windshield and I am getting tremendous windnoise form that area. I noticed that the (now single piece) big molding that goes around the wiper arm and extends to the outer ends of windshield was loose. I attached it with great difficulty, but still no change. Is there something special that the guy left out, or a special procedure that allows excessive wind noise?

Well, thats all for now, thank you for your advise.

The CD will have most of the information you seek. It will have all of the wiring diagrams, you will just have to print them out.

If the engine hasn't had synthetic, I'd not use it. It will cause the head gasket (that is already weak on the 104) to start to leak.

You may have to get the windsheild replaced. Don't sweat it, because we have them done for around $500, I THINK, (DON'T HOLD ME TO THAT PRICE THOUGH.)

Comming from you... that scary!
Weak Head gasket? I suspected that, but hoped they had it fixed by then. I will have to baby it.

Thanks for the advise.

i have a 93 which was the original "e" with the M104 engine. digging through the records i got from the PO i discovered that the head gasket was "seeping" at 15k miles (they never had it re-checked). i replaced it 40k miles later at which time it had already turned into a gusher...
