Where is the Transmission Vacuum Modulator
I was under the car the other day, and could not find this transmission vacuum modulator.
I read that it has a green cap on it, but I found nothing like that on it. I have a 722.4 transmission |
It is driver side and has a vacuum cable coming out of it
|
My car is right hand drive, so do you mean it is on the left side of the car (ie, as you are sitting in it, it is on the left)?
Is it or should it be green? And the approximate location of it on the gearbox? ie, up and forward, or middle of it somewhere? |
Bump
Can someone please tell me? The only thing that I found which may have been the modulator was a metal cap, about 3.5" in diameter with a ridge in the center. |
There is only one item with a vacuum cable coming out of it. You can't miss it! Left side.

There were many cables there actually, to my surprise
And, do I need to open anything to get to the T handle or should it be visible? |

I will look again...
When I change the engine mount. On the subject, if the original engine mount seems fine, should I bother changing? 62,000 miles, almost 17 years old |

I "Think" it's from gsxr's website
13mm is the cutoff point for a Good>Bad Motor Mount. The Bugger's are "Hydraulic", so they can have collapsed Internally + ONLY Measurement will help determine Go/No Go. |

You can see the Black Rubber cover over the "T" shaped adjustment handle.
(AND the "Nipple" for the Vacuum Hose/Line [Cable] ) These are sideways pictures, the only visible portion on the Automobile will be the "Brassy" ring (Outer Circumference) and all portions to the Right in the Picture. No view on the car of the O-ring and White Plastic, they'll both be stuffed into the Transmission itself. |

I could not get that plastic piece off... though it allowed me to rotate it almost 360 degrees.
|
Me too, I have this same modulator, the mechanics told me that there's no cap to remove, I just have to turn it clock- or counterclock wise to harden/soften the shift.
IS THAT RIGHT, nothing to remove and just turning it? |
Well, I turned mine anti-clockwise and the shifts did become much better.
However, the range of movement is less than a full circle, so I don't know if you can take it off to adjust it further or not |
