Do new bolts come with thread lock blue on threads?
Dear All,
This is a bit of a daft question, but I want to check as it is a safety issue. I've got some new bolts for my disc brakes (disc to hub), and brake calipers for my w123 from the dealer and they come with blue looking thread lock stuff painted on the threads. Is this actually thread lock - or is it just a primed base for your own thread lock to be added before installation? I don't want to assume that it is indeed thread lock only to find that bolts that should be locked start to come loose. |
I say its thread lock, but a little more can't hurt.

It's thread lock, it's what MB calls a "microencapsulated" bolt.

It is a thread lock. No need to add anything else.
