W201 euro lamp, light conversion

Hi All,

I am contemplating conversion of my 1986 190E 2.3 to
euro headlights. I am looking for sources (cheaper than
Bekkers) and any experience doing that. Part numbers
would also be of great use, as my brother lives in Germany
and probably could get them cheaper.

TIA.

Please post and copy me, as I may not check in the fourum
for a while. -- Tony Ander, aander@newsignal.com

If your bro lives in Germany then forget any US importer of parts...just tell him to buy a pair of 201 headlites....they are stupid cheap over there, probably around $100 each and since the 190s were and are wildly popular there; any dealer will have them in stock. I had part numbers on the boxes I had for my 92' 190E 2.6 but sold them with the car...sorry...but you really don't need them. Good luck...its a great upgrade in the looks dept as well as the lighting performance.

The forum actually sells them in their partshop....see this thread:-

Also, you do not need part numbers for your brother in germany, just have him go to a mercedes shop or dealer and ask for headlight units for a 190e. Its real easy because these are the only light they sell over there.

Hope this helps.

When I purchased my euro lights from Bekkers, they came with a connector adapter. Can't recall details, but there's probably a euro/US connector conversion that has to take place. The euro lights your brother picks up in Germany may not have this adapter. Someone please confirm this statement.
