W140 300se owners, milecounter
 

I am looking at buying a '93 300se but I am puzzled with the milecounter. I saw a '92 model with a digital counter and this one has a mechanical one. Is this ok?
any comments would be greatly appreaciated, thanks.

The speedometer has been replaced. The replacement only comes digital.

The 93 you are looking at has the original ODO. I think they started installing digitals in 94. If a pre 94 has a digital ODO the car probably had some kind of cluster problem.

Many of the earlier models (92-93) had instrument clusters that shorted out......symtoms included erratic flashing warning lights...MB replaced it with a digital cluster that had the same mileage as the original analog one.If you look at many 140's of this vintage you will see that in a great many(such as mine)
