Clear Fluid!
Today after a long drive in 104 degree PS weather I got home and relaxed for about 30 mins before I had to leave and run more errands and then I discovered a clear fluid underneath the car. It wasn't water, as I touched it and it was like an oil base. Any clues?

Brake fluid and Power steering fluid can both be clear. Does you car have the yellow/clear coolant or the green stuff? The proper Benz coolant can look clear on the ground.
Zerex-05 looks like water but slimy..!!! check your coolant
I run zerex in my coolant and I did just add p/s fluid today but I can't remember if I add it before or after I noticed
Not water droplets from the evaporator mixed with residue already on the ground?
actually I have a fluid leak.....maybe atf, I changed that and the filter and gasket and I have had an atf leak since.....probably about 3 weeks now. can't figure out why. so the clear fluid could be from the evaporator
Put a match to it. Brake fluid will burn. Coolant will not.
I just got the same thing.
It's clear, and it's oily but it doesn't feel like ATF (ie, not quite as good a lubricant) It came from the vicinity of the oil pan for the gearbox, but from further up. I lifted the car up and some of this stuff drained to the ground. Car hasn't been ran for more than 24 hours. What could it be? |
Perhaps A/C condensation mixed with PAG oil from an A/C leak? How's it cooling?
A/C is working great....just had it evacuated and recharged with a dye put in, mechanic said he didn't see any leaks. but it may have been coolant/water with something else. How much condensation should leak out? I'm seeing at least about 1/3 of a cup + or -.
