1995 E320 Transmission Shifting Too Early--Vacuum, Bowden, Modulator??

The transmission on my 1995 E320 is shifting way too early. The 1st to 2nd change occurs a little over 1K RPM. The 2nd to 3rd change occurs before 2K RPM as well. 3rd to 4th is also premature. There is a noticeable bang/clunk when downshifting from 2nd to 1st.

All this drama began after my cousin rear ended someone at about 15 MPH. Headlights, grille, hood, radiator, and fans were all replaced professionally. I corrected the fluid level after radiator repairs. :(

Where should I begin on this issue. I thought fluid level was definitely the culprit but was proven wrong. Any thoughts about vacuum leaks, modulator adjustment, or bowden cable adjustment?

Thanks in advance!

Have a good weekend!

Lift the car up and make sure that the vacuum line is attached to the modulator, on the driver's side of the transmission. THat would be your first step.

Problem solved by taking slack from the bowden/throttle cable
