CD Changer Install

I am going to be installing an Alpine 6-cd changer to a 1994 C280. I was told the prewire went to the right rear in the trunk. Anybody know where exactly this wire is and how far I have to pull away the paneling? Do I need to remove the paneling or just pull it aside? Thanks.

The MBZ pre-wired harness should be located around the fenderwell, usually tied down w/ cloth tape or wire tie. To interface an Alpine M-Bus CD-Changer w/ the MBZ, you will need a logic controller adapter. Best one around is made by Blitzsafe (www.blitzsafe.com), available via your local car audio shop. After plugging in the adapter cable, route it under side compartment and mount the CDC in vertical position, flushed to body frame. Don't forget to reset the Alpine suspension springs to vertical mount before installation. Good luck and happy holidays.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to you, too. The CD changer is going to be a gift for my mom.

On my '94 E320 it's on the passenger side. Probably the same for yours.

If you want to do a clean installation, spend the money on the OE mounting plate which bolts onto pre-drilled holes on rear right steel member. This saves you from having to drill holes on the inside bottom to mount the CD changer.

The CD player may or may not fit on this MB tmount. Ask the car audio shop to drill/rivet the 2 metal brackets for holding the changer onto the mounting plate.

At least that's how I installed mine.
