420CDI W211, 2008, oil stick
Hello everybody,
on my new 420CDI W211 from 2008, there is no oil stick, but only an electric sensor for the oil level. Is it possible to install a classical and usual oil-stick.? |
I don't know. Most of the population here is from the USA, and we have never received that engine in any MB model, so we are not familiar with it.
Many of the petrol engines do not come with an oil dipstick either. Those engines do have a space for one. I would guess your 420 CDI does too. Have you asked at a main dealer or MB workshop? They should be familiar with the engine. |
I agree I would like a traditional stick as making sure the engine temp is at blah blah and the car is idling on a known level surface may sound right in the Fatherland (oops Sie Land aus meine familie) but we merkens likes us das stuck!:D

There is a workshop tool that can be used to measure oil the "stick" way, but it's not designed for permanent installation.

Damn Sam, a 420 CDI E class - that must be a blast to drive!
