They will only rent it to you if their computer tells them that your vehicle is capable of towing it.

My Ford E-150 with 10,000lb hitch is not capable according to their computer.
My 45' 54,000lb Prevost motorcoach with 22,000lb hitch is not capable according to their computer.

Their small moving truck is.

I also heard they don't rent out trailers to customers who drive Ford Explorers or Mercury Mountaineers.

I learned to play their game

This is what I tell them this when they ask what kind of car I am going to tow. I say I am going to pickup a 2005 Chevy Aveo. They aren't insuring anything. If something goes wrong it is your insurance or you pay. I can't believe how stupid U Haul has become in the past 15 years. My town car according to their way of looking at things, with a frame mounted hitch can't tow a 240D, and you got a put up with a snot nosed kid who just got his drivers license to tell you this. Another good one to list is a 90 Metro Geo. I think an 80 VW rabbit would be a sure winner also, anything that is under 3000 lbs.
