190E electric window

Good evening. Since the cold snap two days ago my driver's side front electric window is extremely slow and the motor sounds really sick as the window nears the top (sometimes it makes a "ping" sound as it closes)

Having searched the site I see a lot of references to regulators. Could this perhaps be the problem? or does it just need a spray of WD40? I haven't removed the door trim panel yet.

Thanks

First of all welcome to the forums!, I am no mechanic but can tell you I sell a lot of motors and regulator on the chassises. You might want to take a look in there and do a search thru the threads here to see what you come up with.

It could be the window switch going bad. You can test by switching it with the passenger window switch( assuming that one works ok).
If that doesn't correct the problem, I would remove the door panel and investigate. I have had a couple window problems. The metal regulator cracked at the lower mounting point and completely failed.
Be careful taking off the door panels especially if you have power seats. Let me know if you do I will give you some tips that will make the job go smooth.

Hi Marc,
Go to halfords and get some nylon and rubber lubricant and spray it on the channels, works wonders for smoothness.
Also as the above post says change the switch ,I swopped front to rear as I thought they were handed.
The new switch only cost £8 from the dealer and the window is now twice as fast!!
I have changed a regulator but I do not think that is the problem, visually check for broken teeth ,if they are worn change asap as they can kill the motor(v expensive)
Regards Hamish
Nice to see someone else from the uk!!!
