Springs + Lubrication

Hello everyone AGAIN!!

Well, I believe some of you read my older threads and know that I'm changing the whole front end of the car which is extremely frustrating .... Today was another day where I had to put a hole in my pocket but nevertheless the car deserves it and it will last me ages. There are quite some other few stuff to do for the car as well though but now it's not the time.

The front springs as I have suspected turned out that the idiotic facking piece of idiotic owner that I wish I could hang to death heated them with a propane torch to make it "LOWER"...turns out that this guy is a Honda lover, I hope he dies in a horrible car crash!

I went over to the Mercedes dealer to get an idea about H&R springs and they quoted me 690USD within a shipping period of 3 weeks. I wasn't sure of the price so I headed back home and checked out the price and it turned out to be 940USD (without selecting a distributor)... Are those prices reasonable? IF ANYONE has got H&R springs without self leveling or ADS I would like to have them could 29739-1 and 29739-2 both of each.

Dilemma number 2.... The previous owner used to run ATF by Liqui Moli and now I got myself Fuchs TITAN.. Is that a good choice? I'm planning to do the same for the engine but I'm not sure what to do with the differential.

Your help will be appreciateddddddddddd A LOT!... because I'm giving up on this car, REALLY... I hope that the previous owner that screwed the car up gets torched up with a propane torch and dies because that's no way to treat a car.

hhahahahaha, this post cracks me,i understand your disgruntle to the jap mobile lover, the best you can do is research on the web about the parts you want to install, then discuss the parts with a proffesional who knows the part well.then make your decision.i hope after you fix your benz you dont die in a car crash from changing the springs.

I feel safe assuming that this is a Mercedes, but that's as far as I can get.

I'm not sure of your exact problem, but H&R or Eibach Springs seem to be under 300USD on ebay

I'm sorry I got carried away with the hatred that I feel towards that idiot!!

It's a C140 500

Thanx Spetz, I'll take a look at ebay and check if I can find the springs for my car!

O.P. is in Bahrain - That's the Middle East. He may not have access to ebay or cheaper parts specialists there.

The 140 Coupes were the most expensive Benz's of the period. Only the 600's were only more expensive than the C140 500 Coupe. There was a limited amount of them sold. Not all parts were common between the w140 coupes and Sedans. After market stuff maybe hard to find for his exact car.

Restoring a 500coupe to original specs may take a certain amount of time to arrange - especially in Bahrain. It could be that the O.P. has nowhere else to go than the dealership.

Cutting the front springs on a car like a W140 Coupe is a travesty. M.B. spent over a Billion bucks on development getting the W140 right.

Yes, that's correct I do not have access to ebay or any of those cheaper parts specialists in Bahrain. They don't ship them to the middle east but there is a way to get them shipped is by opening a P.O.Box in the U.S via Aramex and they take care of the rest and ship it to Bahrain but it's a very long procedure!

I thought most of the parts between the W140 coupes and sedans are the same?? You're freaking me out here!!! Could you please tell me the difference if you know the difference? Ok I noticed the OBVIOUS differences from the outside and the inside but what about the main functional parts? drivetrain, gearbox, engine parts? etc...They're basically all the same!!

Well, I got all my genuine MBZ front end from Saudi Arabia because that was significantly cheaper and the rest of the parts that I got yesterday is from a place that I deal with and they're all genuine as well. I didn't want to go after-market and not knowing if they possessed extra power out there. If I go after-market I want some extra heavy-duty light weight parts but I doubt that we have for the W140.

Tell me about it, the front end pissed me off. I got myself some Genuine MBZ shocks because that's all I could find.. I'm just going to replace the front end and later on if I'm lucky I will order myself a set of H&Rs from ebay but unfortunately I couldn't find anything on ebay yet for MY car!!!
