Fog Light Lens Replacement

I cracked the fog light lens for my '97 E320 (driver side). I was able to pick up a replacement but I'm not sure how to get at the cracked lens.

I figure there should be some sort of access but I can't find it!! Help, please!!

OK, I found an access door to get in underneath the bumper. (I'm certain it is for changing the fog lamp bulb). I was able to remove 2 clips that hold the lens to the unit and one set screw on a bracket at the top of the unit. There's got to be another set screw but I can't find it.

Any help y'all can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Where did you find the replacement lens? Did you have to go through the dealership, I heard somewhere that they cost a fortune there (like $300). I just realized it was broken last night. Things like that really bother me and I want to fix it asap.

Craig, you'll be thrilled to learn that you can buy parts right here on this site, click on fastlane - I got a replacement for $7 if I remember right and it was Bosch brand!!

Sorry I can't remember how many screws, Carl. It was pretty easy on the right side, you may want to open up that side and take a look perhaps it would be more accessible and let you see how the driver's side is attached. I do remember there are some locator pins that fit pretty tight; you may need to pull harder.

Thanks guys, I'm now an expert at replacing this lens. you're right there are 2 locator pins at the top of the housing that were really in there in tight. After I got the unit out, it was a 5 minute job.

I bought the replacement lens for $29 from the dealer. Not nearly as good as $7.00

Thanks guys. I guess I could spend a little more time exploring this site, as opposed to trying to read the thousands of threads dealing with my car. I called today and the dealership wants $21 a piece. Not too bad. I went ahead and got them, but next time...

Craig:
Just a heads up, there are 3 clamps on the lens. You'll see them when you get the unit out. Also, there's only one set screw (which you'll be able to see from underneath. The 2 locator pins are really in tight.

You should be able to get it done without having to remove any of the underside covers. Good luck, it's an easy fix once you know where to look.

How do you remove the 2 pins do you turn it or just pull it by hands?

I also need to replace the right fog lens of my e320.

Ok i'm gonna answer my own question

It's easy to remove the entire fog light assembly it's only held by 1 screw on top after that you can pull the entire assembly.unplug the h1 connector remove 3 clips that hold the lens.

Assume the procedure is the same for a 98 W210. I need to replace mine also. Dealer wanted $33 after tax. Ordered from Fastlane: Lens PLUS a fuel filter delivered next day at the same price (include shipping)!
