Leaking Fuel Pump Fitting
 

Heeelp. I just replaced both fuel pumps on my 1989 300TE with Meyle pumps and the front pump (where the filter and accumulator live) continually leaks. I have pulled it out 5 times now and used new copper washers but the freaking thing still leaks. What gives? It seems fine just after i do the job and take the car for a run, no leaks but when i go back to the car the next morning it has been leaking. It is driving me nuts. Any clues on what i can do here?

if the fuel pump itself is leaking,it could be many things,please elavorate where the leak is located,you mentioned somethin about the fuel filter and accumulator,where is the exact leak?

Always put a little bit of grease on rings an compression fittings.
They will seat with much less force.

There was a problem with leaking pumps from Meyle had to change one three times.

it appears to be from the crush washers on the banjo fitting or the one on the pump under the non-return valve.

If you are using new, correct copper sealing rings I would inspect the sealing nut and check valve assembly for galling. Mark

yup brand new washers etc. Had it perfectly sealed again last night, went for a 30 min drive no leaks. Got up in the morning started the car and fuel leaked out everywhere. I am going nuts trying to figure this out.

When driving, you may be using fuel faster than the leak so it will not be evident.

Look for a cracked banjo fitting. Can be the result of overzealous tightening.

If not cracked look for scoring on fitting faces and on face of banjo bolt.
