89 300sel 3.0 six

My car is hard starting after it sits overnight....crank crank crank... Did a compression test
150
160
150
145
140
150

I have had overheating issues and was concerned with head gasket issue...no oil/water mix.

What should I expect my compression to be from a 175K engine?
Thanks
Warren

That seems pretty good for that many miles, without giving you a specific answer. On a new one you'd expect 200ish, so you are pretty good.

One suggection, given the symptom, is to check the OVP fuse. You can do a search on it. If it starts hard and runs kinda poorly until it's warmed up, it would be worth a quick check of that fuse.

I changed plugs, removed ovp, checked fuse, cleaned connectors, repaired broken plug wire...crossed fingers...and it started right up!! Runs fine...we will see.

Thanks

I cleaned it up and put it back in...don't know if it was the problem because I was doing a number of other things too. But it is starting great. Will keep an eye on it and buy a spare.
