windows 1992 400E

The driver side window is acting up..If you lower the passenger side window the driver side will also go down. The driver side window then cannot be raised by using the switch. I removed the console cover and swapped the two switches, did not help, not a switch problem. I can raise the driver side window by manually jump wiring the female connection. However if I lower the window (driver) I have to turn off the ignition switch to get the window to raise (manually jump wiring). I do not believe it is the window motor, so I searched the forum and found this which I believe may be my problem? Almost forgot to mention my sunroof opened by its self, I got it closed, but the switch will not operate it...Again the sunroof operates perfectly by jump wiring...

There is a "convenience" computer under the REAR seat bottom on the drivers side that operates ONLY the windows & sunroof..would imagine that computer is the problem. start by checking the electrical connections on that computer.

Thanks Tim

The electrical connections are probably okay. I'd open the unit and check the relays. After a number of years/miles, the relay contacts develop a "burn". If you're handy, get a small file and clean all the contacts. I did that with mine after 15 yrs/95K. I was getting hiccups with the window operation.

Thanks Kestas, it was convenience computer or comfort system creating the problem, I was unable to repair it, opt for a new one instead of a used one on ebay.

Thanks again, Tim
