First '86 190E 2.3-16 in USA?
Does anyone know the VIN of the first 1986 190E 2.3-16 imported into the US? Mine is WDBDA34D4GF168856, and was manufactured in 1985. I suspect it's among the first, but haven't yet found an online database to check.
Thanks, Kirk |

I believe the first 16V in the US belongs to Bill Balmer in Illinois. His car was the test vehicle which Car & Driver used in their March '86 road test. He still has the car, in fact he's offering it for sale. According to his ad, his VIN is

1986 Mercedes 190 2.3-16 Valve "Cosworth" W201
I actually have that car in my inventory now, the very first 1986 Mercedes 190 2.3-16 Valve "Cosworth" W201 in America, VIN WDBDA34D9GF148151. Will have it on my website soon.
Borrowed some of the text from previous owners found on the forum, thanks Bill & Tim! This car is truly amazing and has such an interesting history... I have seen them in the past but now that I've experienced this car, I'm a believer! Best, Donn Dabney Left Coast Classics http://www.leftcoastclassics.com/1986-mercedes-benz-190e/ |
