stripped bolts

my 300 e has only been serviced by the benz dealer here in jax fla. when i changed my oil n it , the oil plug was so stripped it took vice grips to get it off. i can t believe a benz dealer would allow that.

I would hazard a guess that most dealers suck (no pun intended) the crankcase oil from the dipstick tube, not drain the oil from the pan. Could be wrong on this though. Also, if the dealer had noticed that the drain plug head were stripped you can bet the dealer would replace it and charge you for it too. Mark

There's a theory over here that MB "technicians" are not what they used to be... but I have no personal experience of their maintenance departments. However, I have found that the local dealer's parts service to be excellent.

Techs at MB dealers suck the oil of engines via the dipstick. There is no need to get under the car, at least on a 300E.

As mentioned a MB tech would report the damaged head on the drain plug to your Service Advisor who would recommend replacing it.
