I've never used a hose, I just put a drain pan under it, but I fully expect that it would be 5/8" ID hose.

Lee, I use a 16" long piece of 1 1/4" OD x 1" ID clear vinyl hose that I bought at Lowe's. That way you can see what's draining out of the block.

With it cool and the radiator cap removed, you won't get a bath. It will just start trickling out and then pour out faster the more you open it.

doing the job today.. went to three auto parts stores and none had g5..headed to napa today.

i have bought g5 at pep boys before... they acted as if it didn't exist.... 2 out of three places sort of chided me about using g5... they said any coolant was fine..

only the purists get the mercedes stuff they said... i said i like to keep my car going for at least 200k miles and left..

Lee,
If you are also draining the M104 block, is it the same as the M103, just loosen the bolt on the lower right side of the engine block? Thanks.
Richard

seems like with the 104....you have some more of the exhaust slightly in the way...

i did mine today.... jacked up the car..put it on a stand.....

the bolt came out with a 3/4" socket half inch drive.... i didn't even need a cheater bar.

Larry.... I still got a small bath... i then hooked up a hose... and got a few more ounces of GREEN on me......

everything drained out nicely... and very clean......

I remember how i did this 3 years ago with another car... i put a pan underneath the car... and got out of the way... and hosed down the driveway later...

any ....new g-5

this is the 95 e320...my son is probably going to get it in a couple of weeks...so i am on hunt for another 124...

also turkey basted the power steering fluid a couple of times, put in a new ps filter and turkey basted the brake fluid , too.....

car is in beautiful shape since i also clayed it, polished it, and waxed it a few weeks ago....

lucky kid

The socket probably caused it to spray. On the 103 you can easily get a box end wrench on it so that it is free to drain straight into the pan. Sorry you got the bath, but I'm glad you got the job done.
