SRS light briefly on
 

stats: 1987 260E 2.6L

Hello all. Everytime I turn the key to on position prior to starting the car the SRS light would stays on for a while then goes off. So I just go on my merry way until the next time I get in the car and turn the key to on, same thing every time. Does this means the computer thinks the airbag already deployed? or does it means something else?

Maybe I'm not reading this right (it is 2 am) but the SRS light should go on when you start the car, and then go off as everything checks out.

How long does it stay on? I believe that's the last light to go out for my model before I set out for a drive.

Well, it stays on an extra 2 seconds longer after everything else has turned off. Is this normal?

Sounds normal.

Same for me here. Only once in a rare while does it flash and come on when driving and turn off quickly but I've learned that it's a contact in the steering wheel column so no biggee.

yes it sounds normal,my srs light is the last light to go off,all cars do this,its the last light to go out,it stays on for just a few seconds longer than all the other light,mercedes are not the only cars that do this all cars do,but if the light is coming on while driving down the road,and stays on or flashes something else may be wrong.you may want to have it diagnosed,could be a loose connector end on the air bag.as long as the light is on the air bag wont deploy,but once the light shuts off your fine.
