E320 locking issue--console switch and remote
 

2001 E320, remote locks and unlocks the doors. When the locking switch on the console is pressed there is a motor running sound, but not as "many" motor sounds as when remote is pressed. And locks don't operate when using the switch. Is this switch replacement? There is no way I am capable of removing the dash unfortunately. Advice appreciated!

Does every thing lock, including the gas flap?

If you sit in the car & use the remote to lock & then use the switch will the car unlock?

Yes, the switch will unlock the doors if they have been locked using the remote, but not the other way around.
