fuel return hoses

can any one give me suggestion on how to change the fuel return hoses. i am loosing a considerable of fuel from these hoses as they always appear to be soaked. does anyone have any idea of how much they would run($) and aly complications that may arise in terms of air in the system etc... . thanks

I just did this this Monday.

I had ordered the return hose and the end plug through mail-order but could not wait on Monday as it was leaking pretty badly. So I went to the dealer and got some hose. These hose simply get brittle after years of heat and diesel fuel attack.

Changing is easy. You probably cannot even pull off the old hose anymore as they are very brittle. I end up breaking them and then remove them with a pair of pliers. You need about 1 meter of these hose to do the whole job. The new ones simply press on.

The price at the dealer is about $10.50 for 1 meter and mail order for about half that. The end plug can be re-used if it is inserted in a new hose.

Now I have received the mail ordered hose and plug today and they are in my tool box as spare.

thanks guys,
i will replace them as soon as i get the hoses i was most interested in whether i had to bleed the fuel system as my pump does not work. in an unrelated question if i replace my primer pump do i have to bleed the fuel system?
thanks again.
