Engine delays starting after turning smart key
 

On a 2000 C-230 after inserting and turning the smart key, there is sometimes a 3 or more second delay before the car attempts to start. This is usually the first time the car is started in the morning, but at times it is every time the smart key is turned. The car has never failed to start but at times I wonder if the key is gong to work. Would appreciate any diagnosis or advice.

order a new key before it strands you,common problem in those model cars.
