'91 300SL - Where is the diagnostic connector
Trying to figure out a high-idle, low-idle issue on a 1991 manual trans 300SL, described in another post. There is a suggestion that a fault in the ignition control module may cause this. If so, the ECU will store the fault in memory which can be accessed via Pin 7 on the 55-pin cable to the ECU.
In the Alldatadiy and Mercedes documentation, there is mention of a 9 pin X11/4 connector on the left inner fender, which this car has. However, there is no connection from any of the pins in that connector to Pin 7 in the ECU cable (supposed to be to Pin 3). There is also mention of a 14 pin L-shaped X11/4 connector in the control module area on the right side. But unless I'm missing something or going blind, it's just not there. So, any ideas where I can find the connector to hook up my impulse counter and see if there are any faults? Thanks, |
Never mind, I found it.
It's under a cover with the hood light switch sticking out of it, in front of the module area.
