Coolant level light won't turn off
Ive had the coolant level light on for a while now. I initially did have a low coolant level when the light came on first. There is a small leak somewhere without any smoke or steam. The light didn't go away after refilling the reservoir. I topped off the reservoir, filled up the windshield washer reservoir, and replaced the coolant level sensor. The light is still on. Does it indicate anything besides exactly the coolant level? Possibly that the radiator fan is broken? It seems to turn on only sometimes, as my car nearly overheated.
Thanks for the help! |
Its the sensor, get a new one remove the spring clip pull out and replace. You may be able to clean the "contacts" on yours maybe. Corrosion same that builds up in your radiator over time builds up on it.

Yep. Same thing happened to me. I pulled it out, cleaned it off and cleaned contacts. hasn't come on since.

Hmm I already replaced the coolant level sensor. What would I be looking to clean?

i think that on those cars that the brake fluid level sensor is in tandem with the coolant level sensor and there have been some issues with that circuit.

Does the light indicate anything besides coolant level? Could it also be saying something like there's a coolant leak (which there is), or that I have discount coolant (which I do), or that my radiator fan is broken or something?
|
Nope its only for level. If you cleaned it and reinstalled and its still reading low then the float has a hole and the sensor needs replaced.
