wired noise...w124 climate control
ive been reading a lot about the climate control unit in the w124's
i currently have to start the car and then turn the key forward further to get the fan to work(sometimes). the 0 button turns off the blower when you press it but it comes back on after the pressure is released off of it... or sometime the 0 button will work correctly if the fan is on low.... Anyway, with that said... I was driving yester day about 115mph or so and a loud squeeking noise started comming from under the glove compartment. I tapped the underside of the dash and the sound stopped and the blower on the heater seemed to increase in out up. Is there something related to the blower located under the dash passanger side? And with some of the problems I've just mentioned is it something I should be able to fix back to near perfect with limited mercedes knowledge? Or is it something I should take to a specilist and have them trouble shoot and fix? Thanks |

I would make a bet that it is the air sampler blower motor that is making the noise. It basically pulls the cabin air through the grill near the cabin light and measures the temperature. On the W124 I believe it is located behind the glove box. A search should reveal how to get access to it.
