Question metal shavings in timing cover

I didn't use a case harden bolt when I pulled out the pin in the chain rail retainer. I had to tap it out and got some metal shavings down the timing chain case. Also a few plastic chips off of the retainer.

I was going to flush it out with carb cleaner or kerosene and drain the oil. then blow it out with compressed air.

Pulling off the whole front end isn't really an option since I don't have all those pulling tools.

Suggestions.

P.S. Head took a while, but came off OK

Do just what you said, then change the oil after 50 or so miles. You should be fine.

invest in a wet dry vaccum it will save you head ache and aggrevation now my suggestion would be to keep changing the oil as much as you can as many times as you can you dont want metal shavings in your motor anywere.

Would a magnet attached to a flexible line workt o get out the shavings? how about a magnetic drian plug?

I would think these things work well for removing shavings.

But I'm not a tech.
