Euro headlight bulbs

I'm finally upgrading to Euro headlights. What bulbs can I safely run with the factory wiring? I think they originally came with 55/100s but can I upgrade to 80/100s? How about those Silverstars or Nighthawks that I often hear about? Also, what bulbs are needed for the fog lamps? Do the Euro lamps keep the yellow bulbs or are they white?

They originally came with 60/55w lamps, and that's all I'd want to run in them considering how wimpy the factory wiring and alternator are.

I have a set of high performance, stock wattage lamps in my SDL. I'm very happy with the light they put out. I did a simple comparison here: Philips X-treme Power lamps: a review
