New Fuel Injectors...big difference?

I'm pretty sure I have the original fuel injectors still in my '91 300E. Only problem I notice is a little tougher starts when weather is in the '90s. If I get get new injectors and seals, what should I expect as a difference I might notice? Is it worth the $200.00? They seem easy to install...

I've seen 20 year old injectors that were still GOOD!

Does the car idle ROUGH when the engine is hot? if not, I'd bet they are still good.

MB DOC...It still idles very good, even when hot. I was wondering if replacing them would increase starting, acceleration, and fuel waste performance. I do have the seals so was wondering if I should do injectors at the same time...

Babymog...What does the Redline Complete Fuel System Conditioner do that is more noticeable than Techron or any other cleaner? How much is it and is it one bottle or a process?

Red Line is AFAIK the only detergent-based cleaner, unlike Techron et al it does not contaminate the oil and does not have (nor need) warnings on the bottle to change the oil or limit its use per oil change. Techron is bad IMO, has NEVER made any perceptible driveability change in any CIS car (I've tried it several times), is solvent-based, and when you dillute solvents that much you're just "pissing in the wind". Easier to just pour some nail polish remover in the tank, ...

RedLine actually worked for me and others on CIS systems that exibited the typical bad spray pattern at idle and low flow symptoms of: occasional miss at idle and soft part-throttle acceleration to hesitation on light throttle increases. One full bottle for the first dose will change your driveability within 100miles IMO, has for me, was all that I used in CIS cars after I was fortunate enough to try it (found out about it because I use their syn oil and Water Wetter).

You can buy it from Amazon, or go to their website to find a local supplier, ... a little hard to find.

A bottle is IIRC around $12 retail, will treat 150gallons at a maintenance dose which I try to remember to put in my gasoline vehicles. I really haven't seen as much difference in later injection systems, but in CIS Mercedes/Audi/etc. cars I was always happy with what it did, for not much $$. I hope that you find it and it solves your driveability issues.

I find the Redline injector cleaner at my local Pep Boys for $8. Maintenance dose is about 2 ounces per fuel fillup.

Wouldn't it be more effective to get the injectors ultrasonically cleaned and flow/pattern tested rather than just add some additive?

I suppose that's a matter of individual preference. For me, removing parts is like surgery, it's invasive and can lead to collateral effects. Beyond that, these mechanical CIS injectors are reasonably priced, so I personally wouldn't have them cleaned (assuming that was needed in the first place). I would replace them with new.

As i have read inquire a few articles that CIS injectors cannot be compleatly cleaned and calibrated due to construction impediments .

Like Mak said, apparently they're not really serviceable.
My local shops don't want to even touch CIS injectors, though I found one that was willing to put them on the bench if I insisted, though was not willing to make any guarantees as to being able to clean them.

I changed injectors twice over the last 20 years, trying to help a heat-soak starting/chugging problem. No effect.
But, the car always ran and idled fine after the first few seconds of chugging, so I was chasing the wrong dog. (still haven't caught the right one after 20 years).

Well, after 50 years, I finally heard an non-glowing comment about Techron.
