1993 300E IDLE PROBLEM

Hello, I have a 1993 300E Mercedes, 6 cylinder, fuel injected w/ 155,000 miles. The problem is once in awhile when the car is first started (cold), it surges from 350 to1300 rpm (about). After the car has been driven and warms up, it has no idle problem, unless the car idles for 10 minutes or so, if you give it gas to move, it then begins to surge. If the car is turned off and allowed to sit for 10 to 20 minutes and then re-started it idles fine.
I have changed the mass air flow sensor, with no change…. Fellows I need some help!! Thanks 300ebess

Check for cracks on the two air hoses that go to the Idle Air Control Valve that is underneath the Air Filter housing (take off air filter housing) toward the front. Caused mine to to this until I replaced/repaired the one on the right side that had a crack at the neck. Also, check all your hoses for vacuum using a mighty vac type tool. Could have a little leak somewhere else but my bet os with the IACV hoses.

1993 300E's are the year of the incorrect badge.

They do not have the 3.0 liter M103 engine, and do not have an idle air control valve.

They have the same 3.2 liter M104 HFM engine as 1994-1996 E320's.
