Sub Frame mounts...?
What noises would a strut/subframe/trannie mount(s) make when going bad? I've checked my entire chassis, inspected the brakes, and had a mechanic look and drive (Of course the car didn't make the noise then!) my car, and I still can't find anything that has play or wear. I still hear a loud THUD (Sometimes a light thud, sometimes rather violent) under my car if I stop quickly. Then starting off the line a low growl (Lasting 2-3 seconds) from underneath as I come out of first gear. I'm thinking they are coming from the same source, although I could be wrong. Upon paying closer attention I notice this noise when stoping in a straight ahead position, either backward or forward. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks! 190e 2.6 1990

If I remember correctly, the 2.6 does not have flex disks as the 2.3, so I would look at the tranny and differential mounts.
The symptom of my bad subframe mounts was a "wandering" feel while stopping/turning/wind. Also, look at the gear stick when coming to a hard stop -- mine was moving around. Cheers, Andrew Seidel.
