I thought the speakers in the doors were mid-range, not woofers. I replaced the whole sound system in my car. I went to the Bekker authorized shop in Laguna Niguel, California, because my year (93) was so complicated. MB placed a receiver and two amps (Bose) in the trunk which ran the whole system. But the system ran off of 2 ohms, instead of 4 ohms, which is the current standard.

To make a long story short, I gutted the whole system, replaced the speakers with Polk audio in the dash, doors, and rear deck (two-way speakers in the dash and rear deck, mid-range speakers in the door). I put in a Pioneer head unit because they claimed Pioneer had the best tuner and processor. The shop is a factory authorized dealer and repair place for Bekker, Sony, Alpine, and Pioneer, and they thought Pioneer made the best stuff. They owner and his installer even had Pioneer in their own cars.

Just got my drink holder from the website above. Although pricey, $50, it looks great.

I got the one that mounts on the flat/carpeted portion of the center console. They even custom made one out of zebrawood for me, and black plastic so it matched the console beautifully.

It's the only non-standard piece on my 300D, and it was a great add.

PS, ordered on day, received 2 days later, and it was custom made.

Is there any tips out there for those of you guys who've mounted the Griot's cupholder already? Wondering how to get the guide holes punched through easily without taking the cup apart.

You can't really punch-out the guide holes for the screws.

I simply used a drill bit to open up the holes. The drill was long enough to do it without having to take apart the cup holder, even if this is possible.

You have to drill at an angle to open up some of the holes, but it was a very simple procedure.

Further, when mounting on your door, use a level to mount it. Mark with a pencil the four hole areas. I tried eyeballing it, but your eye plays tricks on you when you have your door open. There is no frame of reference because your car sits at a slight angle in your driveway or on the street. Your door slants at a slight angle, etc. when open.

thanks for the tips, got it mounted with minimal fuss and it's pretty solid I must admit....looks good and works great. What more can you ask.....

though mounting a black device onto black door panel does bring it's own lighting requirements....ambient light is not enough.
