190e vibration

drove a 190e 1992 today. 2.6 103. 70k miles. owned by 87 year old woman.

Here's the main issue: seems like the typical motor mount issue...... in park very little vibration. In drive at idle lots of vibration.

Here's where it gets tricky: it still vibrates until 4th gear ...say 40 mph... then is smooth on the highway.

Seems like something else is out of sync here.... possible front flex disk...

other than that the car needs a solid tune up and some cosmetics

any other possible cause for those symptoms.

Its a 25 year old car: Spend the money and replace the motor & trans mounts and both flex discs and you are good for another 75k miles.

While doing the front flex disc and trans mount remove the vibration dampener on the front section of the drive shaft. It does no good whatsoever and will eventually disintegrate; it may have already started to do so and may be the sole cause of your vibration. The dampeners are almost never replaced and running the car with it completely removed has no ill effect on the car. It is a strange piece of Mercedes voodoo engineering that does nothing.
