Question Annoying buzz rattle drivers dash 2000 E320

Hello All,

I have an annoying dash buzz, or you could say rattle but it sounds more like a buzzing coming from what seems to be the instrument cluster on my 2000 E320. The car has 80k on it. Just wondering what this could be? I read posts about the window grill but I don't think this is it. It seems to even be at low speeds, when slightly accelerating causing a vibration. It is even more apparent going up a hill when accelerating slightly.

Is there some mechanical part inside my dash that is making a buzz? OR do you guys really think it is coming from the window grill? I checked that today, and it seem snug.

I really don't want to take the dash apart, but this noise gets old fast.

Thanks so much!

Question

I'm reopening this again to see if anyone has any insight. This buzzing is really annoying. Seems to be coming from the instrument cluster. At first I thought it was the little fan in the rearview mirror that takes the inside temp. Well after further listening it is definitely coming from the driver’s side dash. Sounds mechanical.

Is there anything you guys know of that is mechanical that would make a random buzzing noise inside the instrument cluster or drivers dash?

Thanks for all your help!
