450se cold start idle

I have a mercedes 450se w116 1979 with i think is a little problem.
When i cold start the car the idle speed is very high, and when the engine gets hot the idle speed becomes very low, even so low that the engine stops running when i realese the throttle.

Anyone have any thoughts of whats the problem might be
(Sorry that my english isnt that good)

Car uses a mechanical warm-up additional air valve, thermostatically controlled.

Most likely your issue.

On my 500SEC it's at the front of the engine laying horizontal, just a little to the drivers side. It has a 2 pin connector and some vacuum hoses on it. If you do a search you can find pics of it.
