What brought that about? What are the symptoms/issues?

my mechanic inspected my car and he concluded that my fuel distributor will be gone soon (he better be good he works for MB dealer since 15 years)
so basicly the car get very bad mpg, rough idling, not much power...and sometimes it is hard to start.
the injectors are in nearly new condition, the fuel pump is good, spark plugs brand new

i was thinking to get the rubber diaphragm that sits inside the distributor and try to get it rebuilt!

any ideas?

Hard to start has nothing to do with the fuel distributor. That is EHA or Engine temp assuming you have also done the Rotor + cap.

Have a look through this :
http://www.porsche928forums.com/download/manuals/CISRebuild.pdf

You can buy KE jet 6 cylinder fuel distributor diaphragms

My humble suggestion is that if you have a Bosch injection specialist around your location then take the car to them to have your F.D. pressure tested.

M.B. agents and indies in my neck of the woods send their cars to a Bosch specialist rather than mess around with them themselves.

seems like I've seen bosch rebuilds on ebay for $399.

I think there is a nozzle screen to the IP, and some o-rings inside which can be replaced. I don't think that would ever be something the dealerships would do. For liability, it's easier to sell a rebuild fuel distributor.

I would go to the junkyard and find a working distributor unit before rebuilding your own. By all means rebuild, but have a backup that you know works, at least from A to B so you aren't stranded if something goes wrong.

I plan to rebuild my own soon or at least attempt it...just need to get another FD in the mean time.
