1989 300TE

All-

A 1989 300TE has become available to purchase to replace a totaled vehicle. Any thoughts or experiences about this car would be appreciated. Upon inspection I did notice the rear gate is hard to lift. Does this have gas shocks or springs? Are they hard to replace?

Safe for kids to ride in the rear seat?

Thanks

They are hidden into the roof.

Kids can ride in rear seat fine. Check to see if the Self leveling suspension (SLS) is functioning correctly. The test requires at least 250lbs worth of weight sitting on the rear (2 people will be good enough), start the car and see if it rises.
