SRS light on--1986 190E

My wife's l90e SRS (air bag) dash warning light blinks. The car is l6 years old with a little over 75,000 miles on it.

Can anyone tell me how to check the system out short of going to my Mercedes Dealer. What components of the air bag system can go bad??

Thanks. Tom

Your airbag expired in 2001. They last 15 years from date of production. If your SRS light is simply flashing/blinking sometimes, it is more than likely the "whatever it is thing" in the steering wheel that keeps that contacts the air-bag... like the connection. Hmm, I think they are called rings or the bushings maybe. If so, then it is an easy fix.
Good luck!

Dave,

About 6 months ago I had to have the lock cylinder replaced in the streering column. Could the mechanic knocked off the rings in the steering column.

Do you or anyone out there know how to take the airbag off to check the connections??

Thanks, Tom

Ps--the light sometimes goes off once the car is warmed up. Right now it is fairly cold in the Northeast.
