124 wagon trailer hitch?????

I posted this in the sell/buy parts section but did not get a single reply,i guess not alot of people read there unless they are looking for something.
My question is do any of you folks have a hitch that will fit a 124 wagon that you would like to sell??? PM me or email Don

I have never come across one. It would probably be simpler to make one. That is what I am doing when the car finally gets into working order again.

I have a Curt hitch on my '95 wagon, bought from JC Whitney at a reasonable price.
But it's not for sale.

I have the same hitch pictured in the previous post--fits well and works great. Probably cheaper to buy new--shipping costs for a used one (if you coluld find one) would be prohibitive.

I found one at carparts.com for $165.72with free shipping.Tried to buy it online but whatever the problem was kept jumping the price to $224 so after two attempts to get it online i called them and bought it over the phone for the correct price.I have not received it yet but it is a Curt11806 so i expect it to be OK. If there are any problems with it i will post them after i get it and install it. Don

I found the same hitch and am considering getting one for my wagon. What did you do about wiring for the trailer? How did you tap into the rear wiring harness? There is a local dealer that can install it for me, so I'm thinking about just getting it from them turn-key but not if it doubles the cost.

Okay, so I bought the Curt 11806 hitch and their wiring adapter for my 1994 E320T. The hitch is very well made and the kit would have gone in like a dream if I had properly aligned the holes I drilled. The installation instructions say to budget 40 minutes for the install, but that surely didn't include dismantling the panels in the rear compartment. I would say it took a good two hours overall.

Now for the wiring: I would like to pull the signals from the connector for the taillights that is located inside the spare tire well. Does anyone have a pinout for this connector? Also, has anyone developed a way to parallel the signals in a Mercedes connector so I don't have to cut into the stock harness?

You can disassemble the connector that supplies the taillight assembly. It just snaps apart. Once apart, you can solder directly to the pins--no cutting/splicing required.

Yes, I had thought about that, but I'd rather avoid any kind of invasive surgery. This will be my "last resort" if I can't do as follows:

I would love to fabricate a parallel tap for this connector, using a pair of mating connectors with a jumper between them and the trailer harness tied in there, then I'd be leaving the original wiring and connectors completely unmolested and can pull the trailer harness out at a moment's notice.

Any idea where I can get a pair of these connectors, or where I can get the connector pinout for what signals are on what pins?

You can pop the top off a tailight connector and use a multi-meter to identify the wires.
The blue squeeze-on connecters will provide a parallel tap.
