W126 Oil Suction thing
 

Changed oil and oil pan today. Noticed that the oil pickup was broken. The snorkel part was broken and pushed up into the intake. It was just flopping around. Clearly a pan impact caused it.

I tried to unscrew it but it did not come off. Seems as if it may have once been a softer rubber that just slipped on.

What is the name for this item? I want to add it to my summer project list.

Yes, it just "clips" over the base of the oil pump.

I would call it the pick-up screen.
