E36 Motor - 2.8L base
So, as everyone knows the E36 motor is derived from the 2.8 M104.
My question is, is the 2.8 block shorter than the 3.2? And if so, why didn't Mercedes use the longer block so that they could use longer rods for a better rod/stroke ratio? |
I thought it was derrived off the 3.0-24 engine.

No from all the sources I read it says the 2.8L

All m104's are the SAME casting...AMG took delivery of regular C280's & then swapped parts to make them C36s, including removing the engine & boring them out.
