Mb 140

Has anyone driven the 140, the small boxlike MB that is very popular in Europe?

There is one even smaller than the 140 [40?] that I have seen in a couple of cities. This baby MB would not be safe here, but the 140 would be just about over the minimun in size.

I believe the larger one you are talking about is the V-class 638 chassis (looks like a small delivery van), the smaller one is the A-class 168 chassis.
There is the smaller one yet, the "Swatchmobile" as it is commonly called. MB is 51% owner of the actual manufacturer, MCC AG. MB refers to it as the MCC (Micro Compact Car) Smart City-coupe, it has no chassis identification other than MCC.

MB 140

Hi Juan!

We have both the MB100 & MB140 and they are both Van Chasis.
MB100 is shorter by approx 300mm+- Both have petrol & diesel driven engines which is placed under the front seats!
These versions are made in Korea by SsangYong but carries the MB badge and is known as Istana in Korea. These are combi's (PeopleCarrier)11/14 seater
The model I have is a V638 chasis or Vito which are made in Spain which double up as a Van/Combi/V-Class and they are equipped with Common-Rail Direct Injection (CDI) engines 108/110/112(Diesel) as well as petrol driven ones(113/114)
Mine is a 112CDI Traveliner 9-seater (3 Up-front/6 Rear-compartment) with sliding doors on both sides and a rear hatch door. Great vehicles to have as they are multipurpose but stop short of a sedan feel when driving. Have fun.

MB Canada has told me that they plan on importing the next generation A-Class to Canada. The current A-Class crash tests as well as the C,E, and even S-Class cars.

I don't see how it would be safe enough for Europe, but nor here. Are we talking about regulations, or environment? Crashes are crashes, and Europe has some highspeed highways (though relatively safe) that have terrible crashes.

If MB Canada is true to their word, and brings the A-Class here, I will probably buy one, especially if we've cleaned up our disel enough for them to bring a direct-injection diesel. I understand that they expect the next A-Class CDI cars to be close to 3.0L/100km cars for fuel consumption. Amazing.

The V-Class will not be imported here, and if not to Canada, then 99.99% not to the US. We generally get more models than the US, not the other way around.
