rpm 1989 190e 2.6
 
Hi I have a 1989 190E 2.6 and i was woundering what the rpms are for that car. At 50 it's at 2500 and 60mph it's at 3000 it shifts into 4th gear but at different rpm's ..... is that correct? please help thank you....AND HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY! :confused:

Your observations are correct when checking them at 50 and 60mph.
2500 at 50 and 3000 at 60 are about right.

Don't know what you mean by shifting into 4th gear?

Transmissions of that era started out in 2nd gear. 1st gear was only chosen by manually shifting the shift or by kickdown when starting off.

The M103's power band heats up at 3000 rev's plus. These cars are not that quick at low rev's compared to modern or contemporary vehicles.

by 4th gear i mean its last gear that it has.... it shifts into it at different rpm's it's never the same everytime... is that normal?

Shift points are dependent on your acceleration pattern. It's unlikely that you accelerate exactly the same every time, so it's going to shift slightly differently each time too. Of course, it could also be that you need a mechanical adjustment to the bowden cable or transmission valve body, which controls shift mode.
