M103 Oil filter housing question
1 Attachment(s)
I noticed something while changing my oil last weekend. OPlease refer to the attached pic. I noticed there is a nipple or something coming out of the driver's side of my oil filter housing. Is there something supposed to be attached here, like a hose or something? It have a hole going into it, but I couldn't determine if it was threaded or not. Please let me know if all is normal or if something should go in there. Thanks, all!

I recall there being an oil pressure sending unit over there somewhere, but if your oil gauge works, then its probably nothing.
|
I think the sending unit is lower, forward on the block, isn't it?
|
Definitly in the back there. Has a single wire hooked to it. Does your oil guage work?
|
Yes.

You are probably thinking og the oil level sending unit which is on the side of the oil pan. |
Come to think of it, it is nothing. Its just a nub that gets in the way if you wanted to take your housing off. If you feel it, you will notice no threads at all.

Also, does anyone happen to know what the threads are on that pc, so that I can just throw a cap in there until I can get a new one? Thanks.

If it was grounded out, it would read 0 or 3bar, with no fluctuation at all. If it goes down a bit at idle then the pressure sensor is there, and working.
M103 engines can leak all over the place. Front timing cover is the usual suspect, along with the rear main seal, valve cover. etc. Do you ever find a puddle of oil when its parked for a while? If not, you are probably burning it via your valve stem guides. |
