01 C240 windshield washer not working

Please help with this issue. Windshield washer not engaging. I changed the pump and it worked so so, now stopped working in snowy weather. My suspicion is the column stick is the culprit. Anybody has experience with this?
Is there a relay in charge of washer pump only, the wipers work OK?

Thank you so much, this is really a safety hazard..

2 computers & the switch are involved in that operation.

Switch sends signal to EIS (electronic ignition switch) & the EIS sends electronic command to the front SAM (signal activation module) and that SAM operates the motor.

Hard to diagnosis w/o MB scanner!

Maybe too simple, but have you checked your washer jets? It's a small orifice, so it doesn't take much to clog them. Acoustic guitar string--peferably the high E--is plenty flexible but rigid enough to use a a tool.

(If "not engaging" means the pump isn't running--it's not likely the jets)

If you can activate the pump while someone else listens, it would be good to know if the pump does run when activated. It sounds like you already swapped it out though, but is it possible the lines are frozen? Don't know if you are someplace cold right now or not.

I am trying to remember which model MB it is that the wipers won't work with the hood up??? Might be part of the problem??

Thanks for suggestions,

Nozzles are OK and the car is garaged, so no overnight cold exposure even if I'm in Vermont.

It definitely has to do with electrical. When the car is NOT starter but the key is in position 2, the washer works but once the engine is running, it does not work. So the column stick definitely sends a signal which then gets lost in those 2 smart boxes I think.
