1987 260E remove upper portion of rear seat?

Hi, is it possible to remove the upper portion of the rear seat in this mercedes? I know the bottom portion where you sit on is easily removed with just a pull on the two red tabs. But how do you remove the upper where you rest your back against? Is it bolted to the frame of the car somewhere? thanks!

upper rear seat removal

I don't have specific experience with an 87 260E but I 'd lay bets there are three (two at least) metal tabs extending down from the bottom of the upper seat, secured to the body with screws; (take the seat bottom out first) then unscrew them and then push the seat back up (vertically) and you should be able to remove the entire seat back. The re-installation should be obvious.

Hope this helps.

On the off chance that your seat is similar to my W123:-

W123 wonky driver's seat

Those are front seats. And yes I think they might be exactly the same. In fact I am glad you post them as I might need to remove them to vacuum the glass shrapnels that are still down there. I had a break in recently through the driver side window glass. I suspect it's an inside job, someone who also lives in the building. Probably hate the look of a tri-star.

Sorry I didn't realise it was for the back seat...

Hmmm not good - time for a 12 volt wireless webcam?

I was gonna ask the building management to provide me with a wall outlet so I can hook up a full fled motion detected recording machine.
