Anybody know how to use EHA Test Harness?

I got the harness from MB, but I am not getting a reading...maybe I am doing something wrong here?

I know that we are looking for mA, so I put my probes inline using the connector but did not get a reading, so I am little confused. I opened the throttle too to see if the 0mA read was just where I was sitting, but even during WOT it did not move.

If I recall correctly, you plug the 90 degree connector to the EHA, the male pin connector to the harness and read across the female pins of the third connector.

That is what I did....weird.

Is there anything I need to do beforehand? Do I need to make the connection before starting the car or something silly like that?

Just covering the basics...

First, an ammeter and volt meter are used differently. Your multimeter should be rigged up so that you plug the red (+) cable into a different hole in order to be able to read amps.

Second, an ammeter is wired into the circuit so that the current flowing through the circuit (from +12 down to ground) flows through the meter to get where it's going.

So check the wiring of that test harness and follow the wiring. A basic jumper should look like this:
>---------------->

>---------------->

A jumper for measuring voltage should expose both wires, but maintain continuity
>-----------+---->
+----> test point

>-----------+---->
+----> test point

A jumper for testing amerage should break continuity for one line but not the other.
>-----------+---->

>---+ +---->
+----> test point1
+----> test point2

And your meter bridges the two test points together.

Having said all that, how much was that cable? I have the loose connectors, but haven't yet made the cable.

Thx -CTH

The cable cost me $35....I heard they are no longer in production and stocks are low. It took over a month before it was in my hands. I figured I better grab one before they become non-existent.

I'll have another shot at it and hope I get a reading.
