Tranny Question 93 400SEL

I recently purchased this car (1993 400SEL)

I want to change the tranny fluid and filter, and I got some mixed opinions.

Some say do not change it after the car hits 100,000 miles. Unless you are sure it has been changed regularly.

I have 154K on this car and I have no maintenance records to check when it was changed.

The fluid does not look at all new and it also does not look at all severely used.

What to do?

And what is the best way to get the most of the fluid out on those cars and put in new fluid. Should I do it, or should I not touch it?

Thanks in advance

Change it ASAP. You'll need to purchase a filter, pan gasket, and gasket washers for both drain plugs. Drain both the pan and the torque converter. Draining the pan is easy for the torque converter you need to turn engine to access drain plug. Do a search.

Changed it today all went fine, I used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.

I also changed the gear oil using Mobil 1, but I am thinking of changing the gear oil again soon, I read on some of the threads that it might act as a cleaner and clean all the old sludge out, so I will drain in a few weeks and fill with clean gear lube.

Thanks for all the help
