Repair Manual W126

The link gave me access to the data on the CD, but that's not as helpful as having the actual CD (or data) in the computer for those of us who do not have wifi where they work on their car.

I have 'located' the 2nd CD for the W126 through certain file sharing web sites (torrents) but haven't found CD1, which contain much of the info for my 86 300SDL.

Call MBZ today and they are all out of stock on the CD's, do not plan to make any more and don't sell paper manuals.

I'm disinclined to BUY the CD's off Ebay after hearing about the poor quality of their bootleg copies.

Any tips, or is a free OR 'not free but quality' 1st CD for the W126 now unobtainium?

mbdoc 03-10-2011 08:12 AM

Since MB added those files to startechinfo, looks like e-bay might be the last chance.

Care to share where you found CD2? None of the manuals in the link above seem to work for me. I just get a document not found error. My 89 SEC is apparently on CD2.

I purchased a paper body and chassis manual years ago but the quality on it is so poor I can hardly see anything in the pictures. It looks genuine, but I have a hard time believing it is.

I thought the Startek http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/ website was free. When did it change where one needs to have a subscription?

It is free. It has always been free, and for the past two years at least as required a no charge subscription.

PLeeson 07-30-2011 04:20 PM

$95 per week.
And up.

compu_85 07-30-2011 09:25 PM

No it's still free. I just renewed my sub last week, and the W124, W126, and W123 service CDs are still available

rjk 07-31-2011 06:15 PM

I'm stuck at the subscription sign-up page. It tells me I must select a subscription type (day, week, month or year). Is there a work-around? Am I missing something?

By the way, "subscription" in the pop-up is misspelled "subscribtion."

Am I being scammed?

This thread started regarding DVDs/CDs.

Those you simply call on the phone and order: 800.for.merc

The same information is available via paid subscription, which is where you are. And rather than having the information on CD/DVD, you can print it out from this resource and if you have a PDF writer software, save it to files. This method is the most updated, although of course there is not much updating as regards the older cars.

As for FREE, the only thing that's free is access to the spare parts system, i.e. EPC. That's at http://epc.startekinfo.com

NOBODY gives away access to service procedures ... unless they're doing so illegally.

Wrong, check: http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/doclist.jsp

Looks like things were added on July 10th of this year.

I think Kia gives away their service info too.

OK, got access to many models through workshop resources but the 210 is not among them. But the 211 IS available.

210 just hasn't been released yet?

wilsey 08-21-2011 02:35 AM

I just signed up on epc and you have to give a credit card # though its free. maybe im doing it wrong but all i saw was exploded parts pictures intended for ordering new parts, i didnt find any how to type files like a service manual would have.

wilsey 08-21-2011 02:37 AM

what plugin is needed to view them?

drinkypoo 04-15-2012 06:09 PM

OK, which ones actually work? I went to W126 manual, '82 300SD chassis and all the documents are returning:

Tried '81, no luck either. Tried several different documents. What gives?

Here's direct links to each chassis:

I just tried and they were working. Perhaps it was just a temporary thing. Try again using the links I posted above.

Are you at this screen?

Just Hit continue and you should be fine. The actual files themselves are just PDFs.

Yes. This is correct. You must pay to subscribe to the StarTek INFO service.

HOWEVER: The EPCNet and service manuals are free to the north american market, see my post above for direct links to the manuals.

EPCNet: https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/subscribe.jsp

This site has never worked for me either. I get to the screen you show. Go to the PDFs and as soon as I click on the specified job it returns the message-

You can actually view the PDFs off of this site?

I have found another website for my engine and chassis which is 617 NA only so I use that one.

TnBob 04-16-2012 01:06 PM

2x as per Graplr

All of them. I haven't found one to work yet. I think the last one I tried was 82 300SD climate control.

JamesDean 04-17-2012 01:00 AM

Interesting,

I just ran though to the climate control page using Opera as my browser, not logged into the EPC and I got the same error message that you did. Same thing on Firefox.

I logged out on Google Chrome and it seemed to work fine.

It looks like my Chrome and Firefox/Opera have different versions of Adobe Flash installed.

Best I can tell its something with Adobe Flash, all Chrome opens up everything no problem (confirmed on two computers)
Firefox/Opera would error out

Adobe Flash on Chrome: 11.2.202.229
Adobe Flash on Firefox: 11.2.202.233

Chrome uses its own stored copy of the flash plugin, where as Firefox uses the PC's common flash plug in..

EDIT: No effect when downgrading Flash to 11.2.202.228 (229 seems Chrome only)

TnBob 04-17-2012 01:59 AM

82 W123, Firefox 10.0.1, constant error

JamesDean 04-17-2012 02:29 AM

On my machines:

Works fine in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
Does not work in Firefox or Opera.

greyhound2222 12-31-2015 09:53 AM

Does anyone know of a source for manuals for 1984 300D? Startek faq list says they only go back to 1994. Thanks, greyhound2222.
