90 300TE Tailgate
 

Having issues with the tailgate on my 300TE. The Automatic assist has stopped working, the door does not want to release and raise when we press button to access (seems to be hung up, like it did not release), and the Windshield wiper has stopped working. Checking the fuses, did not see anything out of the ordinary. Kinda wild that they all went out at the same time. Any thoughts as to where to start looking?

You mean the door (tailgate I mean) won't hold itself open? Like the gas struts are bad?
Otherwise I don't know what you mean by "Automatic Assist"

Read and analyzed a bit more:
If you press the button and nothing happens, it is possibly you inadvertantly turned the key in to the "lockout mode", which keeps the tailgate locked until you turn it back into the normal sort of mode.
IIRC the key slot on the tailgate should be oriented vertically, in lock out mode it is oriented horizontally.

Agreed, sounds locked. If nothing else works, pull the lock button up inside a couple of times.

Except I am not sure if you CAN pull the knob up if it is that lock-out mode, can you? The central lock system won't unlock it so unsure if the knob will pull up. Tricky one.

My tailgate is also stuck down and turning the key in the lock doesn't seem to help. At least the back cover is off of mine so I can see the guts. Can I do anything clever from the inside to open it?
